comes spring

Mostly fanfiction, motorcycles, engine porn, motorbike racing, and technobabble. With photos of Kyoto on the side. And a complete lack of consistency strewn throughout.

Aaliyah will always be the First Lady of Triples, whether she had one or not.

I wasn’t into motorcycles when this came out. Didn’t know the difference between a Ducati and a Triumph. Didn’t even know BMW made motorcycles. I just loved her. Loved everything she did.

Years later, I can love her again.

As for the video: That’s a 2001 Speed Triple. This serves as an awesome visual aid for Triples, but also for engines.

0:08 inside the muffler/exhaust
0:09 Exhaust pipe
0:10 Headers (which you’ve heard so much about)
0:12 Those moving parts that look like golf tees? Those are valves.
0:13 Combustion chamber (this is where the piston compresses fuel/air for ignition)

1:40 Camshafts are spinning and thus opening and closing the intake and exhaust valves. (Valves bring in fresh air and dispel the exhaust by, more or less, opening at the correct times.) I don’t see the cam chain anywhere… oh well.

The upper dance floor is basically the inside of the cam cover. You usually see the outside of the cover. In fact, you’ve probably seen one before and just didn’t think about it. :D

The dance floor is flanked by six pistons (the Triple only has three and the only motorcycles in production with SIX pistons are BMW’s touring bikes with their new 1600 engine).

Wait, no… there are eight pistons. Pffft. Never mind.

So, now that I’ve spent a huge amount of time writing this up, I will get back to writing smut.
